About Us

Idaara Maarif-e-Islam or commonly known as Hussainia is one of oldest and most established Islamic institutions in the United Kingdom. Our first constitution was adopted on 13th August 1977. We are a registered charity (506755) with the Charity Commission of England & Wales. Please see our adopted constitution for full details of our aims & objectives and the organisational structure.

By the Grace of Almighty, we have come a long way from our humble beginnings and have now grown to become one of the largest Shia (Ithna Asheri) muslim centres in the country. To better serve the community and cater for the natural growth in our membership list, the Idaara began an ambitious programme in 1996 to modernise our facilities to meet the emerging needs of a dynamic community. A major milestone achieved since then is our current purpose built mosque and community centre where we now have adequate facilities for prayer, an extensive car park, fully equipped kitchen, full funeral facilities, a library and multiple community and educational programmes.
